This is one of our classroom statements this year. Students believe fairness means everyone should get the same thing as everyone else. My hope is to explore what true fairness is and have all students understand that each student will get what they need to succeed in my classroom. True fairness will look different for each student.
Some students may need less work whereas others may need work that is product based and more challenging. Some students may work in groups to provide successful learning. Some students may need hearing aids or wiggle chairs which not all students need and could actually causes issues for other students.
